NOW IS THE TIME TO SCHEDULE YOUR FALL MAINTENANCE
When the weather changes, it is a signal for pests to find warm shelter. Evans Pest Control can help discourage pests from taking up residency in your home or business for the winter. Here are some things that can discourage pests from making your home their warm winter shelter.

WATCH OUT FOR INSECTS THAT LIKE TO WINTER IN YOUR HOME
These are pests that spend the summer outdoor but like to winter in your home. As it gets colder, these pests are looking for easy entry into your home. Insects like, beetles, bugs, and ants like to move indoors. Ants tend to get in your walls, and basement dooring the winter.

RODENTS WANT TO FIND HEAT AND WATER
Mice, and rats want to hunker down in a warm place near water, so naturally they will want to wiggle in under your door, or through a small gap in your basement.

YOUR FALL PEST INSPECTION MAINTENANCE CHECK LIST

THE OUTSIDE

Start outside and look for any existing signs of activity around your building foundation. A typical inspection involves a thorough exterior inspection for cracks and crevices, especially at the foundation, and near where your utilities enter and where wires, pipes enter the home. This is the place pests often find their way in. Inspect basement windows for gaps. Note gaps under basement doors, then looks at other doors, and windows. Mice can squeeze in through a hole the size of a dime. We like to install metal door sweeps to deter pests from entering. Carefully look around the areas near home, such as driveways, for ant colonies. Check for loose siding that will allow rodents to infiltrate. Rodents can get behind or under loose siding, and chew away until they gain entry. Do not forget to check garage overhangs, and outdoor sheds - these are likely spots for bees’ nests. It is a good idea to cut back foliage from the exterior of your house, clean out leaves, and inspect firewood, and fall decorations that might be brought out this time of year.

THE ATTIC
Some pests, like roaches can eat their way through your insulation, and nest up in there. Check for signs of insect activity in your attic, and any small gaps should be sealed up. Infestations occur in your attic, and under a pile of insulation, and are not noticed until a huge problem exists, so fall is the best time to examine the insulation in your attic.
Evans Pest Control provides fall pest maintenance inspections and treatments. Late summer, and early fall is the time to get this important pest safety inspection performed and be pest free during the winter.
