What City Has The Most Bed Bugs?

Chicago… Not Philadelphia

Chicago earned for the second year in a row - the number 1 spot on the Top 50 Bed Bug Cities List, with Philadelphia way down the list at number 2, followed by New York, and Washington DC.

Do Bed Bugs Go Away In Winter?
Bed bugs thrive inside your home so whether it's cold or warm outside, bed bugs spread year-round. It is well known that bed bugs are extremely active in the winter months, especially if your home is kept warm. Bed bugs are not at all effected by the cold outside… they are inside, with you.

Will Bed Bugs Eventually Go Away On Their Own?
Don’t count on bed bugs to go away on their own either. They will stay unless exterminated.
These two things must happen for bed bugs to leave on their own:
• 6 to 12 months elapse.
• No feeding during that time
Bed bugs travel great distances, and can move from room to room with ease, so you are going to have a persistent infestation unless exterminated.

What Kills Bed Bugs?
High temperatures of 212°F (100°C) will instantly kill bed bugs. Steam at this temperature can be effectively used to kill off infestations. Apply steam slowly to the folds and tufts of mattresses, along with sofa seams, bed frames, and corners or edges where bed bugs may be hiding.

What Attracts Bed Bugs In The First Place?
Bed bugs are attracted to the heat of a human body and carbon dioxide they produce. When humans sleep, we are inactive, and the carbon dioxide we exhale attaches the bed bugs to us.
